Social Protection Landscape in 2024

The Social Policy Resource Centre (SPRC) hosted a webinar titled “Social Protection Landscape in 2024” to explore the current state of social protection systems in Pakistan within the context of global economic and social challenges. Drawing from the findings of the UNDESA World Social Report 2024, the discussion focused on the difficulties developing countries face in maintaining progress on social development amid debt pressures and prolonged crises.

The webinar brought together key voices from the social protection landscape, including Mr. Ali Shehzad (CEO, Punjab Social Protection Authority), Mr. Rafique Mustafa Shaikh (Secretary, Sindh Social Protection Authority), Ms. Shirin Gul Sadozai (Development Pathways), and Ms. Alishba Naeem (SPRC). Moderated by Dr. Safdar Sohail, the discussion highlighted province-level progress in Punjab and Sindh, efforts to make systems more inclusive for persons with disabilities, and emerging gaps and opportunities in Pakistan’s social protection framework.
