Improving Policy Responses to Dementia & Mental Health Challenges in Old Age

On September 5th 2024, the Elderly Grievance Rederessal Committee and SPRC, convened the first discussion of a two part policy discussion, on the Challenges of Elderly Care in Islamabad. Building upon the diverse perspectives and recommendations that emerged from the previous discussion, the Committee hosting its second discussion on October 1st, 2024, with a special focus on “Improving Policy Responses to Dementia and Mental Health in Old Age”. Given the correlation between ageing and increased care needs, second discussion emphasizes how important it is to not just comprehend but also raise awareness and strengthen support for mental health and dementia care for our aging population.

Social Protection Landscape in 2024 - SPRC Social Protection Conference

The third Social Protection Conference on “Social Protection Landscape in 2024”, shed light on international scenario and trend, as well as the development of social protection systems and services in Pakistan, with special reference to Sindh and Punjab and disability inclusion in social protection systems. The SPRC Disability and Elderly Care Lead presented the work of SPRC spanning last two years on the issues of PWDs. This programme provided research and policy development support to the key Government Ministries and Departments in Federal Capital for making Islamabad a better place to live for the PWDs and Elderly.
